On a scale from 1 (least happy) to 10 (happiest), according to the 2016 World Happiness Report, the mean happiness level for the USA is 7.10. Denmark had the highest rating (7.52), then Switzerland (7.51), Iceland ( 7.50), and Norway (7.50). Six variables explained 75% of the difference between the happiest and unhappiest countries: gross domestic product per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity, and perception of corruption.
